Nice to meet ... Belgian quilter Kristel Salgarollo

In Pennsylvania bezochten we Amish Country.

Ik wil haar graag even voorstellen:

Do you remember that I traveled to the US this Summer, to Maryland and Pennsylvania? We visited Amish country. You can read the full post here. I have always loved quilts, but I liked them even more after visiting the Amish. When we drove through Amish country, I saw quilts on the wall of a barn, on a washing line and in little stalls with 'quilts for sale'.

So it's no surprise that I wanted to sell quilts in my online shop. I've made them available this afternoon. They're not 'just quilts', but the work of the talented Kristel Salgarollo.

I would like to introduce her to you:

Years ago another Belgian woman, from my town, visited Maryland and Amish Country: Kristel Salgarollo. She saw an Amish 'quilting bee' for the first time. She knew right away she loved it, especially the idea of 'women working together on a quilt, sharing stories and enjoying the company'. It was only years later that Kristel started working on her first quilt project. What started as a hobby, became a passion and very soon her profession.

Kristel has been working as a professional quilter for more than 20 years now. She teaches, designs and makes quilts, for magazines such as Quiltmania, but especially for Editions de Saxe (publisher of Magic Patch). Kristel also designed her own fabric collection for Lecien: 'Cielle by Salgarollo'.

Kristel does not 'just make quilts', she's an artist. Her quilts are designed, handmade and hand quilted. I can't really explain what's so beautiful about it. Her patterns and choice of color are 'typically Salgarollo' and so many people like it.

I gave you a sneak peak in this post. If you want to see the whole range, have a look in my shop.

Enjoy the week!

    1. Hi Angi. I admire the patience of quilters. I can't bring myself to making one. A pillowcase was the biggest quiltproject I could handle (in Kristel Salgarollo's class) :-). I love quilts so much that I made a whole Pinterest board about 'decorating with quilts'.

  12. Hi Goedele - Thanks for visiting my blog. It has been many years since I was there but I still remember the beauty of Amish Country in Pennsylvania. The lush fields, the farmhouses and barns and the quilts. Such a lovely place to visit. I am sure you will sell many of Kristel Salgarollo quilts, as they are all beautiful. Thanks for the inspiration.
Look forward to seeing you at 'Saturday Sparks'.
