Today is such a beautiful day. I can feel that summer has started now. I hope those rainy days are over. It has been pouring here. Thunderstorms, hail, ... The rain was good for my vegetable garden though. Look how green everything is. It is definitely my favorite spot in our backyard. The vegetables are
in the middle. (We hung nets to keep rabbits and cats away.). I planted all sorts of herbs and flowers around it. It'll start to bloom in a couple of days. It'll be so beautiful! And it's so much fun to cut my own flowers.
One of my best discoveries while choosing and planting herbs was this one: borage or starflower. We call it, literally translated: cucumber herb. The taste is really like cucumber: very refreshing.
A few times a week I treat myself to this dessert. Strawberries, dipped in lots of powder sugar. Yummie! And it tasts so much better when it's from your own garden!
But I don't think we can have cherries this year. I don't know what happened but they're so small. Maybe it was the weather, not enough sun, too cold.
I bought one of the most beautiful flowers ever seen: the pincushion flower. I call her the bride of all flowers. To me she doesn't look like a pincushion, but like a wedding dress haha. I had never heard of it before. I hope this plant does well in my garden and has lots of flowers next year. I can imagine already how nice they would look in a vase in my kitchen.
On one of those rainy days I made this primitive spoon.
I plan on crafting more. I'm always doing chores, running around, making lists. I should have more fun! Anyway, I started thinking about fall projects this week. I know, summer only started today, but I don't know how to decorate for it. And we don't have special holidays to decorate for right now. I have something in mind with a styrofoam pumpkin. If it turns out nice, I'll show you.
I got this chair practically for free today, at a thrift store. I assumed I could pay with my creditcards, but ... no. I had to pay cash, but I only had some coins with me that I keep for the carts at the supermarket. I apologized for not being able to pay, but the owner said 'oh well, you know what, just give me those coins'. He wanted to get rid of the chair :-). Obviously.
Have a great week!

Oh Goedele, your garden looks fantastic! How wonderful to enjoy all the fruits (literally) of your labor!
ReplyDeleteVery cute spoon! I'm thinking ahead to fall also, haha. It's my favorite time of year and I love to decorate, I go all out. I start in August when the kids start back to school. So although it is 100 degrees outside then, inside my home is cozy for fall, lol. Awesome chair! The pretty green will contrast nicely with the beautiful shades of fall. =]
Yes, the chair would look great with lots of pumpkins (in different shades).
